I am a survivor – 6 years and counting. As both a survivor and our 2016 Race Chairman, I am forever amazed at the emotional impact, the sense of community and the love and support I feel each time I Race for the Cure. We are a sea of pink & white shirts, marching together through the streets of downtown Kansas City, all truly united in the fight. We know firsthand this battle is a tough one – emotionally, physical, and financially. Race Day is OUR day – a day to celebrate and remember, side-by-side, with our friends and family!

The Kansas City Race for the Cure is the largest nonprofit 5K/1 Mile event in our city. Due to the overwhelming support of our community, we positively impact the breast cancer community through the funds we raise, the grantees we partner with and the programs we support. In 2015, Komen Kansas City re-invested more than $1 million in our local community to fund breast health programs and through scientific research to find the cures. More specifically, the bulk of this support comes from the Race.

If you or your friends/family have any questions about the 2016 Race – or Susan G. Komen and the work they do – please email me at racechair@komenkansascity.org or call me at 816.842.4444.

On behalf of breast cancer survivors and their families I want to thank you for supporting the work we do in the Greater Kansas City area and throughout the world to help save lives and find cures to end breast cancer forever!
