Meet the Summer Interns: Samantha Ball

It’s hard to believe the summer is almost over but in a few short days our loyal summer interns will be heading back to their respective college campuses … here is a little behind the scenes with our events intern: Samantha Ball! Sam has managed the bulk of our highly successful Worlds of Fun fundraising campaign this summer while assisting David Armstrong in planning the Race for the Cure.

Samantha Ball (Right) was one of our two summer interns at Komen Kansas City

Name: Samantha Ball

School: University of Arkansas

Graduation: December 2015

Undergraduate Major: Marketing and Finance

Career Goals (What would you like to do after college): Guest Services or Event Planning, possibly for a non-profit

Where else have you interned?: Washington Capitals (Professional NHL Team)

Why Komen (Why did you want to intern at Susan G. Komen)?: With my mom being a breast cancer survivor, and our previous involvement with this organization, I couldn’t think of a better organization to work for.

What has been your biggest “light bulb” moment since you began your internship?: I didn’t realize how much of the money people donate stays in Kansas City to assist those in our communities.

If I wasn’t interning at Susan G. Komen I would be … Most likely working at the Rogers, Arkansas’s Ronald McDonald Family Room

Perfect vacation would be: Anywhere warm with a beach and/or a pool

Favorite KC Royals player: Lorenzo Cain

Favorite experience in college: Calling the Hogs with some of my fellow Razorbacks while crashing Texas A&M’s Midnight Yell.

Message to Susan G. Komen supporters: Keep encouraging your friends and family to register for the Race for the Cure, and I can’t wait to meet everyone there!

You can reach Sam for a few more days at events@komenkansascity.org!

Congrats on a great summer and your upcoming graduation!
