Susan G. Komen® Greater Kansas City, in conjunction with Susan G. Komen® & Merck,
are proud to present #impactKC15

The State of Breast Cancer in our Community and Beyond

530P to 730P | October 1, 2015 | Grand Street Cafe Event Space | 4740 Grand Avenue | KCMO

Hosted by: Cynthia Newsome | 41 Action News Midday Anchor | Breast Cancer Survivor

#impactKC15 will highlight and share with the public, Komen’s Continuum of IMPACT on our goal to put an end to breast cancer forever … from addressing identified community needs (education, screening, services, etc.) to public policy to funding cutting-edge scientific research.

The event will also be the official roll out of the results from our recently conducted comprehensive community needs assessment.  The needs assessment, that leads to our overall Community Profile, are conducted every four years and serve as the basis for our community grants program’s priorities.

The event will feature a panel discussion addressing questions regarding:

  • What are the highlights from the community needs assessment?
  • How have community grants have made a difference?
  • What is Komen’s scientific research grants program?
  • What’s happening in breast cancer prevention/risk reduction?
  • Why Clinical Trials are critical?
  • What’s happening with metastatic breast cancer?
  • And important Calls to ACTION: What can you do?!

In addition, Komen Kansas City staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide volunteer information; Pink Army (ambassador program) updates; breast health information and and allow guests a chance to go through the Connected for the Cure virtual reality experience.

#impactKC15 is an event for:

  • breast cancer survivors & co-survivors
  • healthcare professionals
  • researchers
  • cancer-related nonprofits
  • volunteers/members of the Pink Army
  • breast cancer community

This event is funded, in part, by a grant from Susan G. Komen (Our national headquarters) and by a grant from Merck to create a research-related event that brings greater awareness and understanding of research and the critical need to support research to find better treatments, diagnoses, prevention and cures.
